Remedial Massage combines a range of massage techniques to manipulate the soft tissue of the body combined with gentle movements for a specific therapeutic effect, rather than for a general therapeutic effect. The therapist may use a range of styles, individually tailored to target a specific problem that you have.
WHO IS THIS TYPE OF MASSAGE SUITABLE FOR?
This type of massage is applicable for anybody who is feeling like a specific area of the body requires assessed and treated which is not necessarily related to a sporting complaint. This could be anything from postural issues to overuse problems. Our therapists are advanced massage therapy practitioners and are trained to be able to access and treat common injuries safely and effectively.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SESSION ?
During your first session we will take a full medical history, injury history and a detailed understanding of your symptoms. After this, we will use some simple assessment techniques to investigate muscle length, posture and alignment issues. Combining all this information allows us to tailor your session appropriately to gain the best results. We can also use this information to advise on future sessions, give advice on self-management strategies and even refer to a physiotherapist as appropriate, should the problem be deemed more complicated.
IS REMEDIAL MASSAGE THE RIGHT TREATMENT FOR ME?
It may not be. We work with a fantastic team of physiotherapists within our clinic. If you are at all in doubt about whether your problem can be treated by our team at ASM, or is perhaps better suited to our physiotherapy partners, please contact us for free, confidential and obligation free advise at email@example.com.
